Tekwane Citrus Estate

The Tekwane Citrus Estate was established by a Danish company called United Plantation Africa Ltd. In 1992, the KaNgwane government bought the farm from United Plantation Africa. The farm was under the management of Agriwane, the KaNgwane agricultural parastatal.

The newly established Mpumalanga government absorbed all parastatals existed in Kangwane and Kwa-Ndebele and formed one corporation, the MDC. The planted area of Tekwane Citrus Estate is 118.92 ha and it is made up of 42 474 lemon trees. The farm exports to the Middle East, the Far East and Russia. Nationally it supplies the local food processing plants.
